5 ft Spool gets spokes- Strength to Weight Ratio Analysis |
RC Industrial was able to reduce the weight of a customer’s spool by 26%. This allowed easier handling for the plant
operators. It was found that by cutting spokes out and then reinforcing
the center of the spoke with a strip of 1/4” steel, produced that best results. Many different shapes were analized in the software prior to removing any steel. The strength of the spool only dropped by 9% with all
the modifications. |
